BART has released video of a suspect still at large following a fatal shooting on board a train at the West Oakland station in January.
Still photos from the video were previously made public in the weeks after the Jan. 9 shooting that killed 19-year-old Carlos Misael Funez-Romero of Antioch at about 7:45 p.m., but video of the suspect was released for the first time today.
While the still photos haven’t led to determining his identity, BART officials said in a statement, “releasing video that shows how the suspect walks and maneuvers may help identify him.”
The suspect ran from the station after the shooting. He is described as a black man standing 6 feet to 6 feet 4 inches tall with a slim build and a bald, shaved or close-cut hairstyle. He was wearing a green hooded jacket and beige construction-style boots the day of the shooting.
The video was taken in the station, not on board the train. The shooting investigation exposed that numerous cameras aboard BART trains were decoys to save costs and the agency has pledged to replace them with working cameras.
BART is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
