A suspect was taken into custody after a brief pursuit on the Bay Bridge this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers tried to stop a Chevrolet for a carpool violation at the bridge’s toll plaza but the driver sped away, CHP officials said.
After crossing the eastern span, the Chevy spun out near the Yerba Buena tunnel and the driver then fled on foot. Officers gave chase and were able to take him into custody shortly afterward, according to the CHP.
As of 8:15 a.m., the far right lane of traffic was blocked in the area while Caltrans crews remove the suspect’s vehicle.
No other information about the incident was immediately available.
