Frisky adults have long flocked to San Francisco to taste our rainbow-flavored tricks and treats, but this year, an adults-only haunted house promises to take all things horrifying about the influx of Bay Area startups and make them even scarier.
Local adult performer and event producer Maxine Holloway has teamed up with film director Val Killmore and a bevy of exotic dancers to produce Eerie SF: Haunted House & Carnival. Organizers will be converting SF Public Works into a joyfully wry, interactive haunted house (and carnival show) that lampoons local startups and tech giants – and hopes to make them even more terrifying than what they’ve done to the Bay Area’s cost of living.
$20 gets attendees Haunted Tours from 7-10pm on October 30, and VIP tickets for $50 offer local startup victims a “Carnival of Mayhem” with performances 7pm-1am.
The Eerie SF environment will be a decayed, superstudio-style headquarters for a haunted and cursed startup called “Ghougle.com.” Visitors tour the dot-boom house of horrors, which promises our nightmares will never end with interactive scenes such as Undeadpet.com, YouTomb.com, Scream.com, Mummingtonpost.com, OkLucifer.com and characters such as Mark Zombieberg and just one more thing: a very special keynote by “Steve Jobs Back From the Dead.”
After being terrorized with the horrors of the tech industry (just like in real life!), guests are invited to escape the Ghougle tour and go upstairs, into a debaucherous Carnival of Mayhem.
Eerie SF’s upstairs events feature SF’s Lusty Ladies hosting traditional carnival games with a dirty twist, and visitors are encouraged to bring dollar bills for lap dances and pole tricks – blink and you’ll think it’s a subculture-hotties-only TechCrunch venture capital party (just with fewer kneepads).
The upstairs is also set to be a costumed dance party, with DJ Carnita spinning sets in between performances by Bombshell Betty and her striptease showgirl chorus, plus Roma Mafia, Cinnamon Maxine, LuLa Applebruise and more performing in ghoulishly sexy burlesque and drag acts. It’s a packed lineup, and we’re also told that special candy apples, caramel corn, and raffle prizes will be on offer.
Eerie SF looks to be a clever and campy event, with just enough humor and sex to make our rent prices and eroding underground arts culture feel like it it hasn’t quite been run out of town by obnoxious new millionaires – and might just be waiting in the shadows for a little old-fashioned horror-movie resurrection…
