Rather than chasing down each an every slumlord in this town, let’s hold their attorney’s up to public scrutiny. An eviction is a public record, and if the landlord and attorney feel ok about making a public record of their issues with a renter, the tenant should have no qualms about holding the landlord and their counsel up to public scrutiny. Michael Hall does “flat rate evictions” and doesn’t care if the unit is legal. There is so much attention on Elis evictions, but BS evictions that are nothing but scare tactics and the numbers take a bit more digging, but the fact is that most renters who are served eviction notice do not have the resources to fight the slumlord and their sleazy lawyer, so they leave. The records exist as evictions filed that never made it to trial. Some landlords in this city file dozens per year.

By the way, if you’re going to be an attorney that helps landlords evict people just so they can make more money, you’l should probably get a thicker skin.

I suggest anyone who can do the same. While it’s unlikely he’ll get it taken off Vimeo, on the off chance that he does, let’s make sure 20 copies pop up to replace it.

This should be a general practice for retaliation against attempts to suppress speech.

I wonder how much it would cost to take him to court. I expect you could crowdsource substantial funds for it.

He’s stated, under penalty of perjury, that you’ve violated his copyright. Take him to court, let him demonstrate his claim, and when he fails to do so, ask the judge for your costs and damages to make up for your trouble.

I’d also call the San Francisco Bar Association and insist that they get an ethics investigation of this fellow rolling. The Bar isn’t too thrilled about its members breaking the law in visible and obvious ways.

You’re being entirely too accommodating about this.

People whose rent-controlled tenancies stand in the way of their landlords getting rich…. eh, not so much.
