A motorist attempted to assault two people with a car and a baseball bat at San Francisco’s 22nd Street Caltrain station on Sunday evening, police said.
At about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, two people were waiting for a ride at the Caltrain station, located near 22nd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.
The victims told police that they had apparently looked at a man longer than his liking, which prompted the man to become irate.
The man threatened the victims and then momentarily left the area, police said.
Moments later, the victims saw the man heading straight at them in a silver Honda sedan. The pair had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit, according to police.
The suspect then got out of the car, swinging a baseball bat at the victims, police said.
One of the victims managed to punch the suspect in the face and wrestle the bat away from him, according to police.
Police said the suspect then began to apologize and got back into his vehicle.
The victims attempted to run away from the motorist, but soon heard the revving of an engine and saw the suspect driving at them again, according to police.
Officers said the suspect drove the car up onto the sidewalk, but the victims jumped out of the way and avoided being struck for a second time.
Police said the suspect then made a U-turn and tried to hit the victims a third time.
After the third unsuccessful attempt, the motorist drove away from the station.
Police said the incident remains under investigation. No other suspect information was immediately available.
