A pedestrian crossing a street in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood suffered serious injuries when an SUV struck him early Thursday morning, police said.
The traffic collision was reported at about 5:45 a.m. on Thursday near the intersection of Fourth and Brannan streets, one block from the Caltrain station, according to San Francisco police.
Officers said the SUV struck the pedestrian, described as a man in his 50s, as he was crossing the street outside of the designated crosswalk.
The pedestrian was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with head and chest trauma, police said.
His injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to police.
The driver of the vehicle, described as a woman in her 60s, remained at the scene and has not been arrested in connection with the collision.
