10:42 PM: Caltrain service is resuming its normal schedule hours after a downed power line in the San Mateo area disrupted Caltrain service on the Peninsula, a Caltrain spokeswoman said.
The line fell near the Hayward Park station, and trains were unable to operate between the Hayward Park and San Mateo stations, Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn said at about 6:10 p.m.
SamTrans buses serve Caltrain stations in San Mateo County and help provide bus bridges to accommodate stranded commuters, Dunn said.
The downed line caused significant power outages in the city of San Mateo, as well as knocking out traffic lights and disrupting traffic, San Mateo County officials said.
As of about 10 p.m. the power line was removed and Caltrain service was resuming at normally scheduled times, Dunn said.
