More than 2,000 PG&E customers in and around San Francisco’s Mission District lost power this afternoon because of a piece of plastic, a PG&E spokesman said.
The piece of plastic came from a construction project and got caught in power lines near the corner of 17th and Alabama streets. The outage was reported at 12:22 p.m., PG&E spokesman Nick Smith said.
Within a half-hour, PG&E crews restored power to 2,168 residents and businesses, but about 45 remained without power. PG&E hopes to have their power restored by 5 p.m., Smith said.
