A 25-year-old Berkeley man was stabbed to death in San Francisco’s Mission District early Sunday morning, according to the medical examiner’s office.
San Francisco police responded to a fight at 18th and Valencia streets at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, police Officer Gordon Shyy said.
Officers found the victim, later identified as Casey Bissell, suffering from at least one stab wound. Shyy said Bissell was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to Shyy, several people were detained in connection with the homicide, but no arrests have been made as of this morning and a possible motive remains under investigation.
Bissell is one of two victims who were killed in the Mission District early Sunday morning. The other victim suffered at least one gunshot wound just a few blocks away, police said.
The fatal shooting occurred at 20th and Mission streets at about 2 a.m., according to police.
Officers arrived and found a 27-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died from his injuries, Shyy said.
Police said the suspect fled on foot before police arrived at the scene and has not been found.
The shooting victim’s name is not yet being released because his next of kin have not been notified of his death, according to the medical examiner’s office.
