National Weather Service officials are reporting gusts of wind exceeding 50 mph at some locations including the San Francisco and Oakland international airports this evening.
The Alameda County Fire Department reported around 10 p.m. that it had responded to a building façade that was detached by high winds at a shopping center at 5600 Bay Street in Emeryville.
Wind advisories have been issued for the Bay Bridge and the Benicia-Martinez Bridge in Contra Costa County, according to the California Highway Patrol. Drivers are being advised to use caution.
Elsewhere in the Bay Area, the winds are causing numerous power outages and downed power lines.
In San Francisco, city Public Works officials have reported a number of calls for downed trees.
The National Weather Service forecasted blustery conditions with westerly winds of 15 to 25 mph this evening to continue through early Monday. Gusts of up to 35 mph are possible, according to the forecast.
