Police in Richmond arrested a man who assaulted the mother of child and pointed a gun at her in front of three children, a police spokeswoman said today.
Officers were dispatched around 10:15 a.m. Monday on a domestic violence call in the first block of West MacDonald Avenue, Richmond police spokeswoman Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.
A woman told officers that the suspect, who is the father of her children, had assaulted her and brandished a handgun toward her in front of her three children, Abetkov said.
The woman suffered minor injuries in the assault.
She said an officer found the suspect, a 23-year-old man on probation on drug-related charges in San Francisco, in the parking lot of a store at West MacDonald Avenue and First Street.
The man was found to be carrying a loaded semiautomatic handgun, according to the spokeswoman.
He was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, child endangerment, being a felon in possession of a firearm and probation violation. He was taken to county jail in Martinez where he remained in custody as of this afternoon.
