A man was stabbed in the neck late Tuesday night as he was sleeping by a gas station in San Francisco’s Mission District neighborhood, police said.
The 54-year-old man was sleeping on the grounds of the gas station on South Van Ness Avenue near Cesar Chavez Street shortly before midnight when a male suspect approached and stabbed him with a knife, police said.
Officers said the victim did not provoke the suspect.
The victim was taken to a hospital with a stab wound to the neck that does not appear to be life-threatening, police said.
Police said no suspects have been arrested yet and that the motive for the stabbing remains under investigation.
