A man claiming to have a gun and a bomb robbed a bank on Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco on Thursday afternoon, police said today.
At about 1:45 p.m. Thursday, the suspect, described as a man in his early 30s, entered a bank in the 700 block of Van Ness Avenue, near Turk Street.
He approached a female bank teller and told her that he had both a gun and a bomb, police said.
The suspect then demanded that the teller hand over cash in $50 and $100 bills, according to police.
The teller complied and handed the suspect cash, which he placed inside a motorcycle helmet before fleeing the bank, police said.
San Francisco police have not yet arrested any suspects and have not confirmed whether the bank robber did indeed have a gun or a bomb in his possession.
