A suspected car thief was arrested on Sunday while trying to rent a BMW at San Francisco International Airport, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Airport bureau police officers responded to a report of fraud at an airport rental car facility at around 12:20 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
Corbin David McDevon, 38, of San Francisco, was allegedly trying to rent a BMW with false identification, which he then presented to police, according to the sheriff’s office.
While being detained, a fingerprint check revealed that McDevon was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants; one for violating state parole, and a second for several suspected offenses in San Francisco, including auto theft, possession of stolen property, and drug charges.
Investigators have since determined that McDevon was in possession of evidence linking him to at least three separate incidents in San Francisco, including vehicle burglary, the sheriff’s office said.
McDevon was arrested for burglary, identity theft and forgery and booked into San Mateo County Jail without bail.
