A man who broke a woman’s fall when she jumped from the third deck at the O.co Coliseum after Sunday’s Oakland Raiders game is at home recovering from his injuries today, a sheriff’s sergeant said.
The woman went into Section 301, which was closed to the public, and prepared to jump over the edge at about 4:30 p.m., Alameda County sheriff’s Sgt. J.D. Nelson said.
Those who were watching from the second-deck concourse level below told her not to jump, but she did anyway, he said.
One man tried to catch her, breaking her fall but suffering injuries himself, Nelson said.
The woman was still badly hurt and remained at a hospital in critical condition today, the sergeant said.
The man, a 61-year-old Stockton resident and lifelong Raiders fan, was treated at a hospital and has since been released, Nelson said.
“He’s bruised and sore, but he’s doing fine,” Nelson said.
Nelson said the man has served in the U.S. Marine Corps and recently became a Raiders season ticket holder.
The Tennessee Titans beat the Raiders 23-19 on Sunday.
