Three people were injured early Saturday morning in a two-alarm fire at a residential building in San Francisco’s Lone Mountain neighborhood, according to fire officials.
The blaze was reported at 4:44 a.m. Saturday in the 2400 block of Fulton Street, just across the street from Golden Gate Park, according to San Francisco fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge.
Firefighters arrived at the building and had the blaze under control by 5:17 a.m., Talmadge said.
Two people were transported to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and a third person was transported to a hospital with burns, according to Talmadge.
According to police, a female victim suffered burns to her hands, shoulder, face and back.
The extent of the three victims’ injuries has not been released, Talmadge said.
The fire caused $1 million in damage to the building and $150,000 in damage to its contents. A neighboring building that was exposed to the fire sustained $100,000 in structural damage and $20,000 in damage to the building’s contents, Talmadge said.
Police said a resident had apparently lit a candle in the restroom and failed to extinguish it, but Talmadge said the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
