San Francisco police today asked for the public’s help in identifying and locating a person of interest in a deadly assault that occurred at the intersection of two main thoroughfares in the city a month ago.
A man died from injuries he suffered during an assault at about 2 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the corner of Van Ness Avenue and Market Street, according to police.
The San Francisco medical examiner’s office has identified him as Stuart Jackson, 74, of San Francisco.
Police said Jackson was at a bus stop when a suspect, without provocation, began to assault him. Jackson was knocked down and struck his head on the cement. He was taken to a hospital and died on Dec. 13, police said.
Although a suspect has not been identified, police are seeking a person of interest in the case. Police describe him as a 6-foot-tall man with a muscular build who may be his mid 20s to mid 30s. Police have released video of the person of interest and are asking for help in identifying him.
Anyone with information on his identity or whereabouts is asked to contact the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444.
