Amtrak’s Capitol Corridor train service has been temporarily suspended and Caltrain service is likely to be delayed this morning while the rail systems inspect their tracks following the 6.1-magnitude earthquake that struck southern Napa County.
The earthquake hit around 3:20 a.m., three miles northwest of American Canyon, the U.S. Geological Survey reports.
Caltrain service has started operating out of San Jose, and rail officials report that all bridge structures between San Francisco and Redwood City have been cleared for operation.
ACE special train service between Stockton and San Jose for this afternoon’s San Francisco 49ers football game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara has also been canceled because of safety concerns following the quake.
However, Caltrain will still provide special service to the second 49ers pre-season game today at the new Levi’s Stadium.
BART had pre-planned delays because of track maintenance on its Pittsburg-Bay Point line but has not reported any other disruptions this morning as a result of the quake.
