A man arrested on Friday remains in custody for allegedly resisting and battering a police officer during a demonstration in San Francisco about a grand jury’s decision not to indict a Missouri police officer for the fatal shooting of an unarmed teenager, a spokesman for the San Francisco district attorney’s office said today.
James Jennison, 36, was arrested on Friday evening near Union Square after he allegedly resisted arrest and then tripped an officer, according to San Francisco district attorney’s office spokesman Alex Bastian.
The demonstration came days after an announcement made on Nov. 24 to not indict Ferguson, Missouri police Officer Darren Wilson, who is white, in the Aug. 9 fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown, who is black.
Jennison remains in custody for felony resisting an executive officer and misdemeanor battery on a police officer, Bastian said.
He is scheduled to be arraigned at the San Francisco Hall of Justice at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Bastian said.
