A 32-year-old man shot and killed at a playground in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley Friday afternoon has been identified, according to the San Francisco medical examiner’s office.
Allen Calloway, 32, of San Francisco, was identified as the man fatally shot at an incident reported around 2 p.m. at Herz Playground, located at Hahn Street and Visitacion Avenue.
Calloway was approached by a male suspect and then shot multiple times, according to police.
He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The suspect ran away and remains at large today, police said.
Calloway, who had been sentenced to one year and nine months in federal prison in March 2007, was previously part of the Down Below Gang based out of the Sunnydale public housing project in Visitacion Valley.
Back in 2007, he pleaded guilty to drug dealing charges. Federal prosecutors had said the gang sold cocaine base and used violence to claim its territory at the housing project.
Calloway was part of a group of 12 gang members indicted on a range of charges in 2005.
