A Richmond man was arrested Monday night on suspicion of drunk driving after he lost control of his vehicle in San Francisco’s Mission District and struck and injured a woman on the sidewalk, police said today.
Juan Josue Lopez-Garcia, 23, was allegedly driving a Chevrolet Camaro south on Harrison Street at a high rate of speed around 10:50 p.m. when he lost control while turning right onto 14th Street, according to police.
The vehicle jumped the curb and struck a 46-year-old woman on the sidewalk, causing a compound fracture to her leg, police said.
The woman was taken to San Francisco General Hospital and is expected to survive her injuries.
Lopez-Garcia was arrested on suspicion of two counts of felony driving under the influence, two counts of hit-and-run, one of which is a felony, driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance, driving without a front license plate and driving with expired registration, police said.
