An 18-year-old man was arrested in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights neighborhood Sunday afternoon after allegedly attacking a woman with a knife near her home, a police spokesman said.
The incident was reported at 3:55 p.m. in the 2600 block of Sacramento Street, near Alta Plaza Park, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.
Before the attack, the teen, later identified as Victor Rodriguez, of San Francisco, allegedly approached the 36-year-old woman as she exited her car in front of her home, Esparza said.
Rodriguez allegedly pinned her against a tree and then tackled her as she tried to get away.
A 37-year-old man passing by tried to intervene and the teen pulled out a knife, Esparza said.
Rodriguez allegedly fled and police responded to the area.
Sometime later Sunday afternoon, police responded again to the home after Rodriguez allegedly returned there and kicked the front door, police said.
Neighbors told police that the suspect had gotten onto the roof of the victim’s home and somehow got into the house, police said.
Police were able to eventually take Rodriguez into custody, Esparza said.
He was booked into jail on suspicion of assault with deadly weapon, vandalism, burglary, stalking, resisting arrest, and false imprisonment, according to Esparza.
The woman, who knew her attacker, was not injured during the attack, Esparza said.
