A San Francisco organization, which serves thousands of less fortunate people daily, needs volunteers during August and over Labor Day weekend, the organization’s officials said.
St. Anthony’s Dining Room and Clothing Program is short on volunteers to serve meals and sort clothes in the last days of summer, St. Anthony’s officials said.
The officials said they have dozens of openings for volunteers each day. They attribute the lack of volunteers to people taking summer vacations.
St. Anthony’s Dining Room serves about 3,000 meals daily and 40 percent of all the free meals in San Francisco, according to the organization’s website.
People who want to volunteer can go to www.stanthonysf.org and click “volunteer now,” or call (415) 592-2748. St. Anthony’s officials are asking people to sign up online or call because they cannot take walk-in volunteers.
St. Anthony’s Dining Room and Clothing Program is located at 121 Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco.
