Police are investigating whether the same suspect committed two bank robberies in San Francisco’s Financial District and Civic Center neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
In each robbery, the suspect went into the bank and threatened the teller with a note demanding money, but no weapon was seen, police said.
The first was reported in the 200 block of Sansome Street at 3:20 p.m. A Bank of the Orient is located there.
The suspect in that robbery was described as a white man in his 30s wearing a black baseball hat, black jacket, black pants and black shoes, police spokeswoman Officer Grace Gatpandan said.
The second robbery was reported at 5:39 p.m. in the 500 block of Golden Gate Ave., where a Golden 1 Credit Union is located.
The suspect in that case was described as a white man between 35 and 40 years old wearing a baseball hat, a leather jacket, a white T-shirt, dark pants and black shoes, Gatpandan said.
No suspects have been arrested as of this morning. Anyone with information about the robberies has been asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.
