A man was seriously injured when he was hit by a car that apparently ran a red light near San Francisco’s Chinatown this morning, police said.
The collision was reported at about 6 a.m. at California and Stockton streets, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.
Witnesses told police that the driver of the car ran a red light and hit the man as he was walking in a crosswalk, Shyy said.
The man was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with serious upper body injuries, Shyy said. He did not know whether the injuries were life-threatening.
The driver of the car remained at the scene, Shyy said. He said it is unclear whether the driver will be arrested at this point and the collision remains under investigation.
