A male neighbor accused of stabbing a 70-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man early Wednesday morning in San Francisco’s Silver Terrace neighborhood has been arrested, police said.
At about 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 100 block of Elmira Street, about a block from the Silver Terrace Playground.
Officers contacted the two victims and learned that the suspect was their neighbor, police said.
The victims told police they heard the suspect kicking his apartment door, as he had done previously, when he became locked out.
The male victim, who had a spare key to the suspect’s unit, decided to let the suspect in to the residence to prevent him from breaking down the door, police said.
But after assisting him, the suspect punched the victim and stabbed him in the abdomen with a knife, according to police.
The female victim then came to see what was causing the commotion and the suspect stabbed her in the lower back, police said.
Officers said the suspect fled to his apartment and when confronted by police, admitted to his involvement in the attack.
Officers arrested the suspect and booked him in jail on multiple counts of aggravated assault, according to police.
Both victims were treated for their injuries at San Francisco General Hospital, police said.
A motive for the stabbings remains under investigation.
