A man killed in a hit-and-run in San Francisco early Saturday morning has been identified as a 26-year-old Daly City resident, according to the San Francisco medical examiner’s office.
Johny William Alonzo-Castillo was injured in the crash at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Cesar Chavez and Folsom streets and died later that afternoon.
A driver ran a red light at the intersection and broadsided the car that Alonzo-Castillo was driving, police said.
The crash sent one of those cars into a third vehicle. That third driver only suffered minor injuries, stayed at the scene and is working with investigators, police said.
Alonzo-Castillo was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.
The driver and several passengers in the car that ran the red light fled from the scene and had not been found as of this morning, according to police.
