A man is expected to survive after he was badly hurt by a hit-and-run driver in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood early Sunday morning, police said.
A driver in a white Volkswagen Passat hit a pedestrian crossing the street outside of the crosswalk near the corner of 10th and Division streets at about 2:45 a.m., police Officer Albie Esparza said.
The pedestrian, a man between 25 and 30 years old, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Esparza said that as of today he remains hospitalized but his condition has improved and he is expected to survive.
The driver fled the scene of the crash and has not been found as of this morning, Esparza said.
