Two eastbound lanes on the eastern span of the Bay Bridge have reopened this afternoon following a fire in a rubber expansion joint, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fire was reported on a section of eastbound Interstate Highway 80 just east of Treasure Island just after noon, according to the CHP.
The expansion joint, which connects sections of roadway and allows the bridge to flex, was flaming and the fire crews closed two lanes of the highway while they put it out.
The lanes reopened around 1:50 p.m.
A similar fire occurred Monday night, when a fire coming from underneath the bridge was reported around 10 p.m. near the Treasure Island exit. That fire closed two lanes for around an hour.
