SF Design Center is home to the third annual Haute Dog canine fashion show, an event so beloved that it’s literally the only Facebook event the Design Center seem to host. Last year’s event benefited Canine Companions for Independence and raised about $40,000 for the nonprofit. This year promises to be even bigger and better thanks to doggie fashion and luxury items available for purchase at the event’s “Posh Pup Lane.”
Hosted by Wilkes Bashford, (yes, that Wilkes Bashford) Haute Dog showcases the talents of prominent interior designers working with materials provided by SF Design Center showrooms. Like all fashion shows, the models strutting their stuff are up for criticism, along with their outfits. Leave it to Haute Dog to offer up a “Most Humorous” category. Think of the winner as a doggie Ms. Congeniality, perhaps. Those looking more towards the higher end of accoutrement will be just as satisfied as the everyman pet owner out there for the love of the adorable.
This year’s event will raise money for Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, a program that provides home and hospice care for elderly dogs. Proving that age is just a number, Muttville dog Chloe will be sharing owning the runway with the younger pups. Work it.
