A 43-year-old security guard was seriously injured when a woman allegedly tried to run him over with a car multiple times in San Francisco’s Bayview District late Friday night, a police spokeswoman said today.
Lataya Robinson, 27, of San Francisco, was arrested following an incident reported around 11:20 p.m. Friday in the 2000 block of McKinnon Avenue.
The victim, a security guard for a nearby building, got into an argument with Robinson, who was allegedly “making a ruckus” outside, San Francisco police spokeswoman Sgt. Danielle Newman said.
The security guard went to see what was happening and saw the woman attempting to throw a brick at a window, according to Newman.
He asked who she was trying to see in the building and Robinson gave him a name. When he went to search, he couldn’t find the person and the woman became belligerent and continued yelling, Newman said.
When the guard said he was going to call the police, Robinson allegedly swore at him and threatened to kill him, Newman said.
The guard then tried to call 911 on his cellphone but the woman allegedly grabbed the phone and threw it into the street, according to Newman.
The guard went to pick up the phone, which was damaged from the throw.
While the guard tried to fix the cellphone, Robinson got into her black 2000 Acura and started to reverse the car toward the guard, Newman said.
He was able to move out of the way, but then the woman drove forward and hit his left side, damaging the right side of her vehicle, Newman said.
The man rolled over the hood of the car and fell into the street, Newman said.
Robinson then allegedly made a U-turn and accelerated toward the guard again, but he was able to crawl to a nearby parked car, Newman said.
The man was apparently in too much pain to stand up and used the parked cars for protection, according to Newman.
Robinson then tried to hit the man again with the car but hit a railing instead and was taken into custody by responding officers, Newman said.
The man was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, Newman said. She did not have an update on his condition this morning.
Police booked Robinson on suspicion of aggravated assault, attempted homicide, DUI, driving on a suspended license, making felony threats, damaging a cellphone to prevent calling for help, vandalism and other offenses, according to Newman.
She remained in custody as of this morning, Newman said.
