The Powell Street cable car line is down in San Francisco this morning, a San Francisco Municipal Railway spokesman said.
Cable cars stopped operating on that line because of a problem that occurred at about 5:45 a.m., Muni spokesman Paul Rose said.
The nature of the problem was still unclear as of 8:30 a.m.
“First we have to find the issue, and then repair it,” Rose said.
He said that in the meantime, bus shuttles have been set up to accommodate the affected passengers.
The other cable car lines are still in operation, he said.
