A stretch of southbound Great Highway along San Francisco’s Ocean Beach has been shut down this afternoon, a San Francisco Department of Public Works spokeswoman said.
The southbound lanes between Sloat Boulevard and Lincoln Way were closed just before 2 p.m. because of possible sand or water build-up after rainy weather this morning, spokeswoman Rachel Gordon said.
Southbound motorists are being diverted around the roadway because it is difficult for cars to safely pass through, Gordon said.
There is no estimated time of reopening, she said.
