1:59 PM: A man who was killed in a crash near San Francisco’s Lake Merced on Monday night has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 25-year-old Yongze Wei.
The crash happened at about 10 p.m. at Lake Merced and Sunset boulevards.
Wei, who was alone in a black BMW, was driving east on Lake Merced Boulevard when the car hit a curb, struck a pole and overturned, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.
Wei was ejected from the vehicle and pinned underneath it, Shyy said. He was extricated and taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation determined that speed was a factor in the crash, Shyy said. Wei was also not wearing a seatbelt, he said.
10:29 AM: A 24-year-old man was killed in a car crash near San Francisco’s Lake Merced on Monday night, police said today.
The solo-car crash was reported at 10:01 p.m. at Lake Merced and Sunset boulevards. The man was driving when his car hit a curb and crashed, pinning him inside, police said.

He had to be extricated from the car by firefighters and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His name is being withheld until his family has been notified of the death, according to the medical examiner’s office.
