3:01 PM: An intersection along San Francisco’s Embarcadero has reopened after a Muni streetcar smashed into a big rig, sending four people to the hospital with minor injuries, according to police and fire personnel.
Police said the crash between the Muni F-line trolley and a big rig was reported around 12:45 p.m. on the Embarcadero near Bay Street.
Four people were sent to area hospitals to be treated for minor injuries suffered in the crash, which slowed traffic around the intersection for more than an hour, according to fire and police personnel.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
1:55 PM: A crash involving a Muni light-rail train and a big rig sent four people to the hospital with minor injuries and is slowing traffic on San Francisco’s Embarcadero, according to police and fire personnel.
The collision between the train and the big rig was reported around 12:45 p.m. near the intersection of The Embarcadero and Bay Street, a fire dispatcher said.
Four patients from the truck and train were taken to hospitals to be treated for minor injuries suffered in the crash, the dispatcher said.
Police personnel remained at the scene as of 1:30 p.m. and motorists were advised to avoid the intersection.
