City Hall Celebrates Supe’s Birthday With Friendly Mayoral Ribbing, “LinkedIn for Dummies” Book

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee proclaimed Tuesday John Avalos Day at the board of supervisor’s meeting in honor of the supervisor’s 50th birthday.

Spirits were jovial in board chambers Tuesday afternoon as the mayor answered one of the pre-submitted questions from Supervisor David Campos in his monthly appearance before the board.

Campos jokingly posed a question asking the mayor to help Avalos find a job after he is termed out office in the beginning of 2017.

“Avalos’ advanced age is an additional handicap in the modern job market,” Campos said on the supervisor’s 50th birthday.

Campos asked the mayor to “please use your considerable clout to help Supervisor Avalos get a job lined up for after he leaves office that can make use of his limited skills but generally affable temperament.”

Lee said that Campos was “selling your colleague a bit short” and defended Avalos’ skills as a supervisor serving the residents of San Francisco.

Campos gave Avalos a “LinkedIn for Dummies” book, while later in the meeting Supervisor Eric Mar gave Avalos some CDs and a vinyl album as a birthday gift.

Mar welcomed Avalos to the board’s “over 50 club,” joining Mar and Supervisor Norman Yee.
