The San Francisco Unified School District’s board of education on Wednesday passed a resolution requiring contractors to maintain certain local-hire levels for school projects.
The board unanimously adopted the resolution, which applies to any projects funded by a 2011 SFUSD bond measure passed by voters.
The resolution requires that San Francisco residents work at least 25 percent of a contractor’s hours on a project, as well as a minimum of 50 percent for apprenticeship hours.
The resolution applies to any contract worth $1 million or more and also requires contracts of more than $2.5 million to include two internships registered with San Francisco’s CityBuild program, according to the school district.
“San Francisco taxpayers contribute to our facilities bonds and SF residents deserve to reap the full benefits of their investment,” school board president Rachel Norton said in a statement.
