San Francisco prosecutors said today they are charging a 58-year-old woman with felony gross vehicular manslaughter for allegedly causing a crash that killed a teenage boy in the city’s Lower Pacific Heights neighborhood in September.
Jennie Zhu, a San Francisco resident, will be arraigned Thursday on the manslaughter charge and two felony counts of reckless driving causing injury, district attorney’s office spokesman Alex Bastian said.
Zhu was arrested on the charges late Friday night but has since posted $300,200 bail and was released from custody, Bastian said.
Zhu is accused of going through multiple stoplights on Pine Street on the morning of Sept. 27 before rear-ending a minivan occupied by a mother and her teenage son and daughter.
The son, 16-year-old Lincoln High School student Kevin San, was killed in the crash.
