A San Francisco Municipal Railway light-rail vehicle struck and injured a pedestrian apparently walking on the tracks near the city’s Glen Park neighborhood Sunday night, a Muni spokesman said.
The accident was reported at 8:50 p.m. Sunday near San Jose and St. Mary’s avenues, Muni spokesman Paul Rose said.
The pedestrian was apparently walking on the tracks when he was struck by an inbound J-Church Muni Metro train, Rose said.
The pedestrian, a man believed to be in his 30s, suffered head trauma and leg injuries, police said.
Rose said the man was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The driver of the train was placed on leave and underwent alcohol and drug testing, as is standard protocol, Rose said.
