A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on San Francisco’s Van Ness Avenue late Sunday night, a police spokesman said.
Officers responded to a report of a traffic collision at Van Ness and Golden Gate avenues around 11 p.m., Officer Gordon Shyy said.
A vehicle was traveling north on Van Ness Avenue where it struck a pedestrian at Golden Gate Avenue, Shyy said.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
The driver stayed at the scene of the collision, Shyy said.
The collision remains under investigation and preliminary reports indicate that the pedestrian was not in the sidewalk, according to Shyy.
