As many as 30 San Francisco residents were displaced by a one-alarm apartment fire in the city’s North Beach neighborhood this morning, a fire department dispatcher said.
The fire was reported in a three-story building at 1656 Powell Street near Union Street at about 9:30 a.m., the dispatcher said.
Units quickly responded and the fire was under control at about 10:10 a.m., the dispatcher said.
There were no reported injuries, he said.
The blaze and water damage rendered at least 12 units uninhabitable, the fire department said.
Crews remained at the scene conducting an investigation at 12:15 p.m.
