San Francisco police today identified two suspects arrested in a shooting at 6th and Market streets that injured a woman during the Pride event on Sunday.
The shooting occurred just before 6:30 p.m. when a suspect, later identified by police as 18-year-old Oakland resident Kawme Williams, was seen allegedly firing shots over his shoulder as he ran away from the intersection, according to police.
Witnesses at the scene also identified Robert Smith, a 20-year-old Hayward resident, as an alleged shooter in the incident, and he was arrested. A juvenile was also seen running with a gun and placed under arrest.
Police officers and emergency crews responded to the scene and located a 22-year-old female victim just outside The Warfield theater with gunshot wounds to her wrist. She is expected to survive her injuries.
A taxi was also struck by gunfire during the incident.
Smith was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm in a grossly negligent manner, carrying a concealed firearm and carrying a firearm with intent to commit a felony.
Williams was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a firearm with intent ot commit a felony and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The juvenile was arrested on suspicion of multiple firearm charges.
The shooting occurred on the same stretch of Market Street where a man had been shot at about the same time on Saturday, according to police.
In that shooting, which took place at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, San Francisco police officers responded to a report of a shooting near the intersection of Market and Mason streets, Shyy said.
Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Shyy said.
The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment and was expected to survive, according to Shyy.
The shootings both occurred while San Francisco celebrated Pride weekend, which attracts visitors from around the country and the world for the LGBT parade and festivities.
Many of the large hotels that accommodate visitors over the Pride weekend are located within a few blocks of where the shootings occurred.
