A credit union on San Francisco’s Market Street that was robbed on Friday got robbed again on Tuesday, police said.
In both robberies, a middle age black man in a black jacket entered the Redwood Credit Union at 1390 Market St. and demanded money from the teller.
While police did not release which establishment was targeted, a Redwood Credit Union employee confirmed today that the San Francisco location had been robbed.
During the first robbery, which was reported at about 4:30 p.m. last Friday, the suspect, described as a man in his 40s or 50s, entered the bank wearing a black jacket with light pants and approached a teller with a note demanding money, according to police.
The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect who then fled west on Market Street, police said.
In the second robbery, which was reported at about 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, the suspect, described as a black man in his 50s wearing a black jacket over a blue shirt with black pants, walked into the credit union and attempted to open an account, San Francisco police spokeswoman Grace
Gatpandan said.
The suspect then demanded money and verbally threatened the bank teller. The teller complied and the suspect walked out of the bank with the cash, police said.
Gatpandan said that investigators are working to identify the suspect in both cases and have not released whether the same individual might have committed the two robberies.
