A broken water line is flooding a portion of Market Street in San Francisco this evening, according to a utility spokesman.
San Francisco Public Utilities Commission spokesman Tyrone Jue said the broken pipe was reported at about 9 a.m. this morning.
He said crews have been on the scene at the intersection of Market and Valencia streets since the report came in and have been trying to determine the source of the water.
Jue said that while there is a good deal of water in the roadway at the intersection, traffic is able to pass through it and no residences or businesses in the area have lost water access.
Khoi Tran, a bartender at Martuni’s, a cocktail and piano bar located at 4 Valencia St. said he went outside the bar to see what was going on and found the street covered with water.
He initially thought it had rained, but then he saw the crews digging into the ground, looking for the source of water, Tran said.
Tran said Martuni’s is open and not impacted by the flooding.
