Employees at a Best Buy store in San Francisco will hold a vigil tonight for their co-worker Nicole Fitts, who was found dead Friday near McLaren Park, as police continue to search for her missing daughter, according to a store spokeswoman.
Fitts, 32, was found dead shortly before 9:30 a.m. Friday near University and Woolsey streets, close to a playground in McLaren Park, according to police. Police have released few details but described the case as a homicide.
Her daughter, 2-year-old Arianna Fitts, has also been reported missing and police are continuing to search for her. She was last seen in late February and is considered at risk because she is young and foul play is suspected, according to police.
Best Buy spokeswoman Maggie Habashy said Nicole was a part-time employee, and Sunday would have been her one-year anniversary at the store.
“We are saddened by the news and our thoughts go out to Nicole’s loved ones and pray her daughter is found safely,” Habashy said in a statement.
The vigil is planned for 9 p.m. at the Best Buy store at 1717 Harrison St.
Police have said that anyone who sees Arianna should call 911 immediately. Anyone with information on her whereabouts or on Nicole’s death should call police at (415) 553-1145 or the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444. Tips can also be sent by text to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.
