A taxi driver was robbed at gunpoint in San Francisco’s Mission District early Sunday morning by a man who was later arrested, police said today.
The robbery was reported at 4:08 a.m. near 24th and York streets.
The cab driver picked up the suspect, who eventually pointed a replica handgun at the driver and demanded his money, according to police.
The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from the driver and fled on foot. However, responding officers found him and took him into custody, police said.
The man, believed to be about 50 years old, was then arrested after the taxi driver identified him as the alleged robber, police said. The man’s name was not immediately available.
The driver was not injured during the robbery.
