A man arrested after a fire broke out early Friday morning at his home in San Francisco’s Bernal Heights neighborhood where he was allegedly growing marijuana posted bail over the weekend, according to police and sheriff’s officials.
Andres Murguia, 41, was arrested Friday morning after a one-alarm fire broke out at a home in the 300 block of Mayflower Street around 3:50 a.m.
The fire was called under control at around 4:45 a.m. that morning and no injuries were reported.
While firefighters battled the blaze, an illegal marijuana grow operation was discovered.
Murguia was subsequently arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana, utility theft, maintaining a premise where narcotics were sold, and possessing marijuana for sale, according to police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy.
Murguia also had a warrant for his arrest out of San Francisco, Shyy said.
There were others at the home at the time of Murguia’s arrest who Shyy said were not residents of the house and were not arrested.
According to the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department, Murguia posted bail on Saturday and is no longer in custody.
