Two top deputies in the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office will be honored by two different organizations meeting in the city this week.
Burk “Buck” Delventhal, the longtime chief of the office’s Government Team, will receive a lifetime achievement award from the International Municipal Lawyers Association at a luncheon today.
The award is the highest given by the association, which is a nonprofit professional organization of local government attorneys in North America.
In a separate event this month, Delventhal will be given the Public Lawyer of the Year Award by the Public Law Section of the State Bar of California at the bar’s annual meeting in San Jose on Oct. 11.
This Saturday, Chief Assistant City Attorney Jesse Smith will receive the International Public Official Award from Lambda Alpha International, an honorary society of land use and economics professionals.
