San Francisco Supervisor Katy Tang today won the lone contested race on the city’s ballot.
Tang, who represents the Sunset District, held onto the seat by garnering 82 percent of the vote to easily defeat accountant Ivan Seredni, according to unofficial results as of shortly before 10 p.m.
Tang was appointed by Mayor Ed Lee in February to replace Carmen Chu, who the mayor appointed as the city’s new assessor-recorder. Tang served as Chu’s legislative aide prior to the appointment.
“I am grateful that I will have the opportunity to keep working to make San Francisco more family-friendly, improving Muni service, encouraging economic development, enhancing pedestrian and public safety, and ensuring fiscal accountability at the Board,” Tang said in a statement.
Chu, who took over for Phil Ting after he was elected to the state Assembly, was one of three San Francisco elected officials who ran unopposed in today’s election.
City Attorney Dennis Herrera and City Treasurer Jose Cisneros also retained their seats.
