9:30 PM: A 5-year-old boy and his baby sitter are recovering at a hospital after being struck by a vehicle while walking in San Francisco’s Richmond District this evening.
The woman and boy were crossing the street in a crosswalk at 37th Avenue and Fulton Street when, at about 5:15 p.m., they were hit by a vehicle, San Francisco police Officer Gordon Shyy said.
San Francisco police initially reported the pedestrians struck by a vehicle tonight were a mother and 4-year-old child. Police have since clarified the victims are a baby sitter and 5-year-old child.
The boy suffered a contusion to his head, and the baby sitter suffered a leg injury, according to Shyy. Both were transported to San Francisco General Hospital and are expected to survive.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, and was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, Shyy said.

Both victims were transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment to their injuries.
